I turn ideas into things that exist.

Fifteen years in financial markets. Eight between the engineers and the business. Now I build the AI systems myself, end to end.

AI Solution Lead and founding engineer, currently running a production GenAI product for Swiss mortgage brokerage. Change analysis and workflow automation background across international energy commodities trading and financial institutions, focused on financial risk and business process improvement, project management, rapid prototyping and full-stack development.

Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL and VBA. React, FastAPI and Streamlit, containerised with Docker on Linux, running on Azure OpenAI, Document Intelligence and Container Apps. Daily work in agentic setups: Claude Code, OpenClaw, MCP and multi-agent orchestration.

The story

Five chapters. Enabling the story.

  1. May 2026 to now, MY HYPOTHECA AGMY HYPOTHECA AG

    A solo software company

AI Solution Lead and founding engineer. I sold the product, built it, deployed it and now run it.

A production GenAI service for Swiss mortgage brokerage, owned from the first client conversation to a deployed in-region Azure service. Document-first extraction and AI-fill on Azure OpenAI in CH North, Azure Document Intelligence and Container Apps, turning mortgage dossiers into reviewed, evidence-linked bank offers. The engineering was only half of it: the commercial, enablement and governance work is what actually got an agentic document system into real use. With AI tooling I was able to be an entire software development company on my own.

  2. 2025 to 2026, BKW EnergieBKW Energie

Product engineering on a trading desk

Built Gaslytics end to end and ran every role on it: product, full-stack, data, solutions, support.

  3. 2016 to 2024, FISFidelity Information ServicesSunGard Financial Systems

Between the engineers and the bank

Eight years translating between developers, consultants and banking clients, and shipping the software in between.

  4. 2013 to 2016, GenevaPictetSantander Private BankingTCA Asset Management

    Private banking and asset management

Reporting, risk and portfolio work at Pictet, Santander and TCA, while passing the CFA three for three.

  5. 2011 to 2013, BarcelonaFestool

    First finance roles

Real estate valuation, credit risk and business feasibility, alongside a Master in Financial Markets ranked top of the year.

Investing

The thing I have done longest, and never got to do professionally.

I have run my own and my family's capital since 2009, systematically and with real money. Nine years of it is audited by a broker rather than by me. It is the hobby, the passion and the one professional ambition I have not yet filled, and I would like to change that.

Beyond work

Six things that have nothing to do with a job description, and everything to do with how I think.

  • Board game inventor

I designed a game called KAMBO and spent two years breaking it.

    • Satirical capitalist economy, three resources
    • Rulebooks in English, German and Spanish
    • Playtested up to 100 players
    • Pitched to publishers

Game design is systems design with brutal feedback. A hundred players find the exploit in ten minutes, and none of them are polite about it.

  • Published novelist

I wrote Legacy of Light and Shadows with AI and published it on Amazon, in Spanish and English.

    • A finished book in two languages
    • Published as Daniel Florit Macau
    • A curiosity that turned into a book

Writing long-form fiction with a model is a different problem from writing code with one. There is no test suite, the failure mode is blandness rather than a stack trace, and the only way through is taste plus a lot of rewriting.

  • Escape rooms and live events

I build the kind of evening people talk about for a year.

    • A Disney-themed prison escape
    • An oil and gas trading role event
    • Custom skill cards, maps and filmed clues
    • Around 25 players per run

Logistics for 25 people is a distributed system where every node can wander off and none of them read the spec.

  • Competitive strategy

I compete at games where luck is loud and skill is quiet.

    • National Magic: The Gathering champion
    • Spanish Poker championship final table
    • Probabilistic and meta-game analysis

Both are decisions under hidden information, judged on process rather than outcome. Which is also the correct way to judge a trade.

  • Own portfolio since 2009

Fifteen years running my own and my family's capital.

    • Factor-based systematic investing
    • Deep value, cyclicals, commodities
    • 45 investments above 100% return

Researching contrarian positions forces you to be specific about why the consensus is wrong, which is a good habit to keep.

  • Endurance and strength

Training seriously since 2010, and still racing.

    • Half marathon, 1:30
    • Hyrox Pro, 1:20
    • Murph RX, 44 minutes
    • Windsurf, kitesurf and capoeira instructor

Fifteen years of showing up is the same muscle as fifteen years of compounding a portfolio. Consistency beats intensity, and both are learned on the days you would rather not.

How I work

  • 01

    Learn fast.

Depth beats breadth, if you keep starting over.

  • 02

    Build instead of waiting.

A rough working version ends more arguments than a deck.

  • 03

    Take ownership.

If it is broken and I can see it, it is mine.

  • 04

    Keep things simple.

Complexity belongs in the problem, not the solution.

  • 05

    Technology should amplify people.

If it does not make someone better at their job, it is decoration.

  • 06

    Curiosity compounds.

Every field makes the next one cheaper to learn.

  • 07

    Consistency beats intensity.

Learned on the water. Applies everywhere.

  • 05.2026 to present

    • Owned a production GenAI product end to end, from the first client conversation to a deployed in-region Azure service.
    • Designed, built and operated a document-first extraction and AI-fill pipeline on Azure OpenAI (CH North), Azure Document Intelligence and Container Apps.
    • Turns Swiss mortgage and tax dossiers into reviewed, evidence-linked bank offers, with per-field confidence and provenance back to the source page.
    • Built the bank criteria profiles, affordability and loan-to-value engine, and the matcher that shows which banks a case clears.
    • Carried the commercial, enablement and governance work alongside the engineering, which is what got an agentic system into real use.
